Monitoring Air Pollution from Space

Last October, the European Space Agency launched the Sentinel 5P satellite into space. The project, in collaboration with the European Union, aims at monitoring the evolution of the air pollution. The collected data will be communicated to the public health agencies, so to implement appropriate measures in case of pollution episode. Last November for instance, the rates of nitrogen oxides were particularly high in north of Germany and over Madrid, where traffic restrictions might be implemented in such cases.
