Madrid uses environmental badges to reduce air pollution

The environmental badges introduced by the General Traffic Agency is one of the key elements of the Air Quality Plan of the City Government of Madrid. While they are not yet mandatory, driving without them in Madrid will become more difficult in a not so distant future: from 2025, gas vehicles older than 2000 and diesel vehicles older than 2006 will not be allowed to drive. By these means, Madrid wants to permanently exclude those vehicles that are too polluting from traffic.
