Milan, also forced to fight air pollution

On mid-February, emission limits for fine particulates have already been exceed during 30 days in the city Milan. According to EU regulations, these limits can only be exceed on 35 days per year. Diesel vehicles with a Euro 4 will not be allowed to drive in the city until the end of 2017. Every day, 800,000 people drive into the city from the suburbs with their cars. The city’s proximity to the Alps causes a lack of wind, which in turn contributes to the fine particulates staying longer over the city, with difficulties for dispersion.
