Air pollution in Spain

In total, air pollution kills 10,000 people each year in Spain, but this average hides large disparities. While the WHO recommended limit is 20µg/m³, the average annual concentration of fine particles (PM10) is 19µg/m³ in Madrid, 24µg/m³ in Barcelona and 31µg/m³ in Seville. As comparison, the situation is more worrying near Gibraltar or Tarragona or in cities in neighbouring countries such as Paris, where the concentration of PM10 is between 26µg/m³ and 34µg/m³.
