Norway also concerned by air pollution

The city of Oslo is going through a high phase of air pollution, which has taken the shape of a smog that is suffocating the whole city. This led the city to ban circulation for all diesel vehicles. In Oslo, 185 citizens on average die prematurely every year due to the consequences of air pollution. The traffic restrictions have been met with disagreement by a large share of the city’s population, since the Norwegian government, like every other government in Europe, has been recommending the purchase of diesel vehicles for years. While Norway counts as one of the world’s most environmentally friendly countries, this event shows that the emission of NOx and fine dust can only be reduced by means of traffic restrictions for diesel vehicles.
