The diesel summit – a farce?

The diesel summit of 02.08.2017 showed that German industrials and politicians would not give any new or interesting proposals for a real improvement of polluting diesel engines. The magazine Spiegel commented today, that even the seven-point plan of Auto Bild, a magazine for car fans, proved more content than the summit’s members have produced. In fact, clean driving would be possible but it needs consistent actions from the industrial side. Adding urea systems and nitrogen oxide tanks would guide to an improvement of pollutant emission. Also, the introduction of an independent regulatory agency could regain the consumer’s confidence, which is really needed. But these measures don’t seem to be in the politicians and industrials short-term interests and are not discussed yet, to the detriment of the air quality.
