Air pollution is worse for smokers

Air pollution severely affects smokers, increasing the risk of death by cardiovascular diseases related to being exposed to fine dust particles. According to Michelle C. Turner, author of a new study on this matter, although tobacco is the number one risk factor, “if we reduce exposition to hazardous air substances among smokers, we can reduce a 14% of deaths by lung cancer and between 5% and 10% of deaths by cardiovascular disease”.
