German Green politician denounces the federal government and the automobile industry’s inaction

Johannes Remmel, minister of the environment for North Rhein-Westphalia, has unequivocally denounced that the federal government and the automobile industry have an interest in not introducing adequate measures to fight air pollution. According to the environmentalist politician “Berlin has escaped its responsibilities and abandoned the communities, Länder and the people”. Environmental policy, according to Remmel, is public health policy, and an encompassing package of measures should therefore be introduced to fight the hazardous substances that threathen people’s health in cities and urban areas.
