The European Parliament strengthens the control of emissions of diesel vehicles

On April 4, 2017, the European Parliament voted on two new proposal to improve the control of diesel vehicles. According to these proposals, EU Member States will have to control a minimum of 20% of the vehicles produced during the previous year. This obligation to control concerns nitrogen oxides as well as fine dust particles and carbon oxides. Sanctions for vehicle producers who manipulate the results may go up to 30.000 euro per vehicle. This money could be assigned to projects for the improvement of air quality.
