Greenpeace fights against diesel vehicles in Germany

On Saturday March 4, the environmental organization Greenpeace carried out actions against air pollution in 58 German cities. Protesters focused their demands on diesel vehicles. These vehicles produce two third of nitrogen oxides contained in the air of German cities. According to the EU’s environmental agency, excessive nitrogen oxides emission rates in Germany cause 10,000 premature deaths every year. In order to improve air quality in German cities, Greenpeace promotes the introduction of the Blue NOx Badge. Its aim is to exclude old diesel vehicles from traffic.
