News about the Crit'Air, the environmental zones and air pollution
On February 21, Stuttgart became the first city in Germany to introduce traffic restrictions for diesel vehicles that do not correspond to a EURO 6 norm. Stuttgart is considered to be the most polluted city in Germany with regard to fine dust and NOx. The city’s geographical location, surrounded by mountains, as well as its traffic infrastructures, make the toxic substances remain in the city and above it. Stuttgart has long fought for the introduction of the blue vignette (NOx vignette), recurrently encountering resistance – together with other cities – from the traffic minister, Mr Dobrindt. France, with its 6-level Crit’Air vignette system, is in a clearly advantageous position in comparison to Germany regarding the environment and the fight against NOx.
