Air pollution in Poland

According to the WHO, 30 of the 50 most polluted European cities are located in Poland. The situation in Krakow is so bad, that it is comparable to smoking 2500 cigarettes a year. At the end of the day, a total of 50,000 people die each year as a result of air pollution in Poland. At the heart of the problem is coal, which accounts for 80% of electricity production. This sensitive subject will also be at the centre of the debate for CoP24 in Katowice.
