Air pollution in China: 1 million deaths per year

In China, the consequences of air pollution are many and dramatic. In the agricultural sector, for example, crops are affected: 20 million tonnes of rice, wheat, maize and soya are lost each year due to ozone pollution. A total of 1 million people die each year from air pollution (particularly particulate matter) and the economic cost is estimated at 0.66% of GDP.
