Air pollution increasingly present in the presidential debate in France

The problems related to air pollution are becoming increasingly present in the presidential debates in France. Since many French citizens – also in the countryside – were affected by problems of air quality in December 2016 and January 2017, the issues of air pollution and traffic restriction have central topics for the candidates. For the presidential contenders of the center and the left, the vignettes and the low emission zones are a good solution to reduce air pollution.

However, the candidates of conservative and far-right parties are endorsing significantly different solutions for the improvement of air quality.
